Urology and andrology

Urology deals with diseases of the urinary organs — that is, the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra — in women and men.

Andrology is a branch of urology and is devoted specifically to male sexual and reproductive medicine and to hormonal balance in men.

Symptoms such as frequent urgency, burning on passing urine, blood in the urine, incontinence or prostate complaints should be assessed at an early stage.

Erectile dysfunction, loss of libido or hormonal changes in men are also signs to be taken seriously, and may point to disorders that require treatment.

The aim is to recognise symptoms early, treat them in a targeted way – and improve quality of life in a lasting way.
