Prevention & Diagnostics
Metabolic disorders
Metabolism in balance – recognise early, respond in a targeted way.
Did you know?
Many metabolic disorders develop over years without anyone noticing.
Raised blood sugar or blood fat levels, and early fatty liver, often cause no
symptoms for a long time. For that very reason, they are often discovered only once
consequences for health have already developed.
Targeted prevention and diagnostics can make changes visible at an early stage — at a
point when they can often still be influenced well.
Common metabolic diseases and disorders
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus and preliminary stages such as prediabetes
- Insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome
- Lipid metabolism disorders with elevated cholesterol or elevated triglycerides
- Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD, formerly “non-alcoholic fatty liver”)
- Thyroid dysfunction such as overactivity and underactivity
- Gout and disorders of uric acid metabolism
- Vitamin, iron and mineral deficiency
Possible signs
- Persistent tiredness and a decline in performance
- Weight gain despite an unchanged way of life, or unwanted weight loss
- Increased thirst and frequent urination
- Concentration difficulties or inner restlessness
- Hair loss, dry skin, and sensitivity to cold or heat
- Recurrent joint pain or acute joint inflammation, for example at the base of the big toe
How we proceed
It begins with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, your habits and
possible family risk factors. This is followed by diagnostics tailored to you.
Depending on the question, we examine, among other things, blood glucose and HbA1c (long-term blood glucose),
blood lipids, liver, kidney and thyroid values, and uric acid.
Where indicated, iron, vitamin and further laboratory values can also be determined.
In addition, a physical examination is carried out and, if needed, an ultrasound of the
abdominal organs, the thyroid or duplex sonography of the cervical vessels. We discuss the results
with you in detail and, from them, develop concrete recommendations together
for prevention, further diagnostics or treatment.

- Diabetes, heart attack or stroke in the family
